Question 98 – What is Christianity's viewpoint on UFOs?

(the 2026 update to the original answer is marked in color)

Dear reader, I believe that the highly popular and controversial question surrounding UFOs and the existence of extraterrestrials should not be overlooked in this book. It seems that more people in our country believe in the existence of extraterrestrials than in God Himself. Sometimes, the alleged existence of extraterrestrials is even used as an argument against the validity of Christianity or as a potential alternative to blind evolution. If it were to "turn out" that other civilizations exist, this would significantly affect our perception of humanity's role on this planet. This would be especially true if such beings were to claim, for example, that they themselves were responsible for the origin of life on Earth, or perhaps even for the emergence of the world's religions, and so on. Here, however, I want to point out clearly that the question of UFOs and extraterrestrials does not in any way invalidate Christianity or the Bible, nor does it diminish the person and work of Jesus Christ.

I should clarify from the outset that I do not intend to discuss the general question of whether other civilizations might exist outside our solar system. Christians, have varied opinions on this matter, and the Bible does not explicitly or plainly address this topic. If life was created by God, He could have created just one inhabited planet or perhaps thousands. There is no need to seek popular statistical probabilities here, as they are utterly irrelevant. If God decided to create billions of planets with only one harboring human civilization, that is His decision. We can perceive the vastness and majesty of the universe as an awe-inspiring witness to His power and glory, rather than senselessly wasted space as some would argue. Conversely, if God had created other beings elsewhere in the universe, He would have done so on the basis of His sovereign decision, not according to human ideas about the size of the universe or according to calculations of probability.

However, I would like to focus on the question of whether any extraterrestrial civilizations have visited our planet or continue to do so—or whether they are even in direct contact with certain individuals or nations. Numerous undeniable phenomena motivate me to explore this inquiry, leading to questions that can be labeled as unexplained and mysterious. These include:

1) UFO / UAP sightings

Thousands of unidentified flying objects are reported worldwide, their origins unknown to observers. These UFO manifestations involve many paradoxes, leaving behind both material and immaterial evidence. Material evidence can be measured and assessed through scientific methods (e.g., at landing sites—heat radiation, altered electromagnetic fields that disable vehicles, and visible traces of damaged grass. These can also be detected by radar). Immaterial evidence, however, cannot be scientifically examined and relies on eyewitness testimonies. Typical examples might include the invisibility of these objects, acceleration or deceleration defying known physical laws, and passing through material objects or walls. Such sightings may coincide with abductions or encounters with unknown beings.

Reports of UAP sightings have intensified significantly in recent years, creating strong pressure on the U.S. government, which is currently (May 2026) gradually disclosing "all" information about UFOs and extraterrestrial life that its agencies have been concealing — in Donald Trump's words. On May 8, the first batch of documents, videos, and audio recordings was released, lending the phenomenon a new level of credibility. At the same time, these materials confirm some older conspiracy theories concerning UFO sightings during NASA missions. The Pentagon also acknowledges that military sensors have repeatedly recorded UAP cases which, even after analysis, cannot be clearly explained.

2) UFO Abductions

Throughout the world, including the United States and Europe, thousands of cases of abductions by unknown entities are documented, often involving experiments (sometimes painful) on living individuals. The scenarios are frequently similar—abductions occur at night, and the victim is awakened by a light and subsequently completely paralyzed, then transported to an unknown location. The victim might undergo various tests (mental, physical, etc.), and experience feelings of confusion, disorientation, overwhelming fear, and helplessness. Abductors commonly focus on the human reproductive system for biological experiments (gynecological exams, egg or sperm extractions, and the introduction of foreign objects). Females might have embryos removed that were likely created experimentally in previous abductions. Abductors communicate telepathically and paralyze individuals with a mere gaze. Often, victims do not remember the abductions at all (sometimes only under hypnosis) [18, 19].

3) Animal mutilations

A widespread and documented phenomenon persisting for centuries, where livestock (often cattle or horses) are found dead and mutilated in various precise ways, with key organs and tissues removed using seemingly advanced technology. Astonishingly, these carcasses are often bloodless, with no trace of blood found nearby. Sightings of UFOs near such discoveries are not uncommon [20].

4) Crop circles

Around the world, mysterious geometric patterns appear in crops or other substrates. These formations often carry symbolic messages and materialize rapidly.

These phenomena (and many others) have become fertile ground for numerous conspiracy theories and so-called "surefire" truths regarding UFOs (e.g., extraterrestrials planted us on Earth as "guinea pigs," we are visited by up to 80 different alien races, they live among us, collaborate with us on scientific discoveries, disguise themselves as politicians and notable figures with the aim of world domination, created our moon, or might be visitors from the future). Entering the term "UFO" or "extraterrestrials" in an internet search will overwhelm you with thousands of articles, documents, and opinions. Many individuals are utterly captivated, fascinated by this phenomenon, and some even construct independent philosophies and religions around it. One of the world's most well-known proponents of such theories, and a favorite of millions of readers, is Erich von Däniken. Däniken primarily popularized the theory of so-called ancient aliens, or ancient astronauts. He systematically pointed to various megalithic structures and artifacts from the past that remain a mystery even to people in the 21st century. To this day, disputes continue over how people could have created them with the technologies, knowledge, and organizational capabilities available at that time.

Attempts at Explanation

To be strictly thorough, we would need to dissect and propose explanations for each of the above phenomena individually. However, space does not permit such an endeavor. Given numerous evidence and indications, one might conclude that the one who is the originator of these phenomena is often the same in all cases. Therefore, I shall treat them as a singular whole. Although thousands of highly credible witnesses exist, including high-ranking military, police, and political officials, the scientific community largely dismisses UFOs. This very situation, however, has changed significantly in recent years. The topic of UFOs and UAP has reached the U.S. Congress, and in early 2026 the administration of President Donald Trump began gradually releasing government materials concerning UFOs, UAP, and extraterrestrial life. The phenomenon, until recently often categorized as a conspiracy theory, is now taken seriously by a number of institutions, agencies, military personnel, and researchers, at least as a real security, technological, and intelligence issue.

It remains a highly controversial subject that is challenging to capture and analyze through scientific methods. Scientists harbor fears of damaging their reputations and facing ridicule. As a result, it is estimated that merely 10% of all UFO sightings are officially reported.

Despite these risks and the veil of enigma surrounding this phenomenon, the topic garners vast media interest and is subject to investigation by individual governmental programs. Countries establish various projects and commissions to earnestly address the extraterrestrial question within the realm of national security.

In most UFO sightings, efforts are made to find plausible natural explanations (though this doesn't prove their truthfulness). Many cases remain mysterious and devoid of any conventional explanations.

Generally Proposed Explanations:

  1. Observations of natural objects (rockets, satellites, planes, the Moon, planets, meteors...)

  2. Observations of rare atmospheric phenomena or the existence of unknown natural events

  3. Tests of highly classified military aircraft (it is possible that some current UFO or UAP sightings have their origin precisely in human-made machines, especially classified military technologies. There are also theories, which have been voiced even during hearings in the U.S. Congress, according to which some governments have possessed crashed craft of unknown origin for decades and have been carrying out so-called reverse engineering on them. Paradoxically, in some cases these could therefore be machines manufactured by humans, yet inspired by technology of non-human origin.)

  4. Hallucinations

  5. False testimonies or photo montages aimed at drawing attention or gaining profit (today, this also includes vast quantities of AI deepfakes!)

  6. Various errors during photography and film development

  7. Visits from future humans

  8. Visits from extraterrestrial civilizations

Personally, I am convinced that many reported UFO sightings have been observed and are indeed a result of the previous natural causes mentioned, including sensationalist hoaxes or top secret military experiments. Despite all this, a closer study of the issue reveals that not all cases can be so easily explained. Evidence seems to lean more toward the "extraterrestrial" hypothesis. Regarding cases of abductions or mysterious livestock mutilations, natural explanations become even scarcer. I must emphasize once again that many abduction victims and witnesses of UFOs are, from a psychological standpoint, highly credible individuals who cannot be dismissed as unstable, psychopathic, or dubious. This credibility leads many researchers to take their testimonies seriously. While some witnesses may also be unreliable, it does not imply they are not conveying truthful and genuine experiences. Today, there is already a substantial number of UFO/UAP sightings recorded exclusively by military sensors or reported by military pilots. This phenomenon therefore can no longer be so easily dismissed or simply questioned as it was in the past.

Thus, I am personally convinced that "something" indeed visits our planet, truly abducts human beings, and attempts to draw our attention through various phenomena, such as crop circles. From this perspective, another very important question comes up: Are these mysteries genuinely the work of extraterrestrial civilizations? What do they want? What are their intentions? Why are they conducting experiments on us? Why are they playing hide-and-seek with us?

Two Fundamental Views on the Nature of UFOs

There are several opinions regarding the identity and nature of these beings and visitors from a research perspective. However, they can be somewhat simplified and summarized into two fundamental hypotheses: the extraterrestrial hypothesis and the inter-dimensional hypothesis.

The extraterrestrial hypothesis suggests that these beings originate from other planets or universes, aligning with what these entities often claim themselves and with general public opinion. This hypothesis is being presented increasingly often in the media as the most likely explanation and, in the event of a possible future disclosure, will probably be put forward as fact.

In contrast, the inter-dimensional hypothesis proposes that the entire UFO phenomenon is not the result of extraterrestrial civilizations but rather visitors from other (spiritual) dimensions or physical realities. One of the main proponents of this hypothesis is the renowned scientist and ufologist (not a Christian!) Dr. Jacques Vallée, who has studied the phenomenon extensively for many years.

There are numerous reasons why these researchers and scientists reject the extraterrestrial hypothesis, insisting that these cannot be visitors from other planets. A few of these reasons are as follows:

  1. There have been many "extraterrestrials" throughout millennia, yet they seem unable to fulfill their mission, which should not be problematic from a practical perspective. Moreover, they often engage in utterly nonsensical activities and observations, frequently lying to people and providing false information.
  2. Many victims of abduction report that the abductions are often a grand show.
  3. The behavior of the captors reflects the expectations of their victims, particularly their intelligence and era. Victims of abductions from long ago describe, for instance, spacecraft interiors as very antiquated, with mechanical elements. Modern spacecraft, however, are described as having an "electronic" interior. In other words, the content witnessed by the observer is tailored to them.
  4. There is a great diversity in the appearance and behaviour of these beings. Some have humanoid features, others resemble dwarfs from legends, and some appear like mythological or religious monsters.
  5. Victims and observers often perceive these beings as hostile. It is a horrific and terrifying event for them. Victims of abduction especially experience dreadful physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual consequences. In other words, the aim of these beings is to terrorize people.
  6. From the standpoint of physics, interstellar travel is extremely demanding — involving distances on the order of trillions of kilometers, enormous requirements for energy, radiation protection, life-support systems, and time (even at 10% of the speed of light, a journey to the nearest stars would take decades). At the same time, the temporal overlap of civilizations is highly unlikely: according to secular researchers, the universe and the Earth are supposed to have existed for billions of years, while humanity has been technologically visible for only a few decades. If advanced civilizations capable of such journeys nevertheless existed, their technology would long ago have surpassed fragile biological bodies and the risk of ordinary atmospheric crashes — After all, we would expect absolute reliability, not the chaotic, unreliable, and crash-prone machines we see in UFO testimonies.

Dr. Vallée's very intriguing finding is that the entire UFO phenomenon points to an intent to deceive and bewilder humanity [18]. For example, flying unidentified objects often play with pilots, and they are so stupid that they either get detected, or they want to be seen but don't want to be caught. These scientists and proponents of the inter-dimensional hypothesis, however, do not know why. They reach a conclusion that agrees with the Bible, though without further spiritual discernment.

Answer to the "Why?" from a Christian Perspective

Yes—surely, it will not surprise you tha demonic entities led by Satan are also behind this phenomenon! There is an abundance of entirely evident evidence and clearly apparent connections to the occult and spiritualism supporting this conclusion. Here are just a few:

  1. In UFO sightings, it is evident that these entities (or their flying machines) want to be seen, but do not want to be captured. They merely wish to draw attention to themselves.
  2. These entities are hostile to humans; they emanate terror and darkness. People are frightened and paralyzed simply by looking into their eyes. Many describe that evil radiates directly from them. In some cases, they are entities resembling creatures from non-Christian (demonic) religions.
  3. There are also abductions by so-called "snatching" from the physical body, where victims find themselves in another location in a spiritual reality. Among Christians, there are two basic views on this issue.

The first is based on the conviction that abductions do not in fact take place physically, but always only in the form of a simulation or deception in another spiritual reality. Proponents of this view do admit, however, that demonic activity may also have certain physical manifestations — for example, injuries on the bodies of the abducted, intended to make the memory itself more convincing. This conviction rests on the deep truth that demons are masters of deception and lies. According to this interpretation, then, no physical abductions or experiments take place; demons merely create the deceptive appearance that they do.

The second view also allows for the possibility of so-called "virtual" abductions taking place only on a spiritual level. At the same time, however, in the context of other phenomena, it also takes into account the possibility of actual physical abductions and real experiences described by these people. The core of the dispute between the two views is primarily the question of whether demons can physically manifest and act also in our material reality.

  4. These beings often communicate telepathically and may possess other paranormal abilities. Abductions are accompanied by supernatural phenomena typical of witchcraft and the occult.
  5. Many practitioners of the occult communicate with these beings through extrasensory channeling (this method of "telepathic" communication is also used for communication with spirits, angels, spirit guides, etc.). In recent years, this phenomenon has also been on the rise. A new term has become established for it: Close Encounters of the Fifth Kind (CE5).
  6. The more occult activity in an area, the more UFOs are observed in such regions. UFOs are also closely linked to the false philosophy of the New Age and to spiritualism. It seems that occult activity in particular creates fertile ground - or, perhaps more technically, "portals" - for stronger demonic activity.
  7. These entities frequently lie to people, seeking to confuse them, causing them pain and terrorizing them. The aftermath of UFO encounters and abductions by "extraterrestrials" is horrifying. People suffer nightmares and severe problems throughout their lives.
  8. The whole phenomenon indicates that Satan seeks to divert our attention from God and to terrorize us.
  9. After a more detailed study of the entire phenomenon and of new information from roughly the past 10 years, I therefore believe that the very idea of extraterrestrial life may be the main great deception that will come in the context of the biblical end times. In the Bible, we are warned, among other things, with these words:

They will suffer the punishment of peternal destruction, qaway from2 the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might, 10 rwhen he comes on sthat day tto be glorified in his saints, and to be marveled at among all who have believed, because our utestimony to you vwas believed. (2. Tesalonickým 2:9-10)

For centuries, interpreters have speculated about what exactly these words will refer to: who the Antichrist will be, what signs he will perform, and what form the final deception will take. Since those days have not yet come, we can still only speculate about it. The idea of an extraterrestrial civilization that will visit us and lead us into the "truth," however, gives these biblical warnings a completely new potential dimension.

For decades, the extraterrestrial narrative has been strongly "programmed" into us not only through the assumptions of evolutionary theory, but also through the entertainment industry — films, series, documentaries, games, and so on. It is therefore possible that Satan is systematically preparing the ground for the acceptance of a "believable truth" that will ultimately be accepted by the majority of the world's population, including many Christians. For if people believe that we are not alone in the universe, and at the same time have apparent "proof" before them, they may easily reject the idea of an "outdated" God. They may then accept almost anything these alleged messengers from space present to them about the origin of man, the history of humanity, religion, and the meaning of life.

Lastly, it is important to mention that many Christians testify to having been able to immediately interrupt and thwart abductions by these beings through the power and authority of the name of Jesus. There are hundreds of testimonies where Christians (and even non-Christians) call upon Jesus during abductions, or directly rebuke these attackers in the name of Jesus Christ, and these aggressors vanish immediately. There are also known cases where people have been regularly abducted for many years, but after accepting Jesus as their Lord, they experience deliverance, and the attacks cease. The Bible itself confirms that demons can materialize and act on the physical level.

This fact has been confirmed countless times since this answer was originally written. Jesus Christ has absolute authority over everything that has been created. Sadly, however, this truth is concealed and overlooked by various UFO researchers. Among other things, researchers fear ridicule and fear that others would stop taking them seriously and label them religious fanatics. Most abductees therefore go through tormenting experiences without the hope of deliverance, which is deliberately concealed from them. Every person, however, has free access to God, and it depends only on that person whether he or she turns to God for help.

Why Sexual Experiments?

Lastly, I'd like to briefly address the constant experiments with a sexual and reproductive undertone. It almost seems as if demons are attempting genetic crossbreeding with human beings. Perhaps this notion seems far-fetched, yet the Bible likely describes the crossbreeding of demons with humans.

"The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them. These were the mighty men who were of old, the men of renown." (Genesis 6:4)

Some Christians believe that it was this very crossbreeding of demons with humans that led to and facilitated worldwide downfall, consequently leading God to destroy the world with a global flood. God prevented further crossbreeding. However, the Bible also speaks of the Antichrist, who is to come in the last days and deceive all humanity. Based on this, some believe that this Antichrist is not to be an ordinary human being, but Satan himself, or his demon crossbred with a human. This may also be the reason why demons are so intensely attempting to genetically breach the once-closed possibility of crossbreeding with humans. Whatever the mysterious reason for their experiments, we have managed to uncover the origin of the "aliens"…

In section 2) UFO Abductions, I stated that these entities carry out terrifying experiments on people. Some newer information sheds more light specifically on the possible reasons for these experiments and genetic manipulations, and forces me to reassess the original assumption stated above that God has made further crossbreeding impossible, or that demons are trying to overcome the barrier to interbreeding - because according to many testimonies, they have in fact been succeeding at this for a long time.

According to some researchers, there has been a significant increase in abduction cases in recent years, and the entire phenomenon, in their view, is entering a new, more advanced phase. One of the best-known secular authors who has long dealt with this topic is the American historian Dr. David M. Jacobs. For more than three decades, he worked with the testimonies of alleged abductees, among other things through hypnotic regressions, which he conducted with more than 150 people. On the basis of thousands of hours of these testimonies and their recurring common features, he came to the conclusion that extraterrestrials are, in his view, carrying out a long-term genetic program whose goal is the creation of human-extraterrestrial hybrids. According to many testimonies, these hybrids are supposed to be gradually learning how to integrate into human society and live among us. In his 2015 book Walking Among Us, Jacobs suggests that, according to his interpretation, this could be a silent invasion aimed at controlling or colonizing the Earth, even though the exact reason for this alleged program remains unclear to him.

According to some researchers, this program also casts some light on the mystery of animal mutilations. They put forward the hypothesis that the entities associated with the UFO phenomenon collect biological tissues — and above all cattle blood — precisely because they need it as high-quality biochemical material for their genetic hybridization program. What they find disturbing is precisely the focus on cattle, or bovine, blood. From a practical standpoint, bovine hemoglobin is highly similar to human hemoglobin: comparative studies report a high sequence identity in both the alpha and beta chains and confirm similarity in the basic function of oxygen transport. Precisely because of this similarity, the availability of bovine blood, and its suitability for technological processing, bovine hemoglobin has long been studied in medicine and biotechnology, especially in the development of hemoglobin-based oxygen carriers and possible blood substitutes.

If these testimonies of abductees are true, then from a Christian standpoint the Bible gives us a surprisingly clear answer to them. As early as Genesis 3:15, God prophetically declared this to Satan: "And I will put enmity
Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.
" According to some interpretations, this verse establishes the entire framework of the so-called "seed war" — a spiritual and later also genetic conflict between the seed of the serpent (hybrids, among others?) and the seed of the woman, through whom the Messiah was to come. Satan, it seems, has been trying from the beginning to corrupt and defile the human lineage so that God's promise concerning the Messiah could not be fulfilled. This reached its climax in Genesis 6 through the "sons of God" (angels), who fathered monstrous beings (Nephilim) with human women and defiled the human race.

What we see in these abductions may in fact be "only" a continuation of the ancient biblical defilement of the human gene pool and an attempt at the broadest possible infiltration into the power structures of human society before the coming of the Antichrist. For example, the Christian researcher into mysteries and Nephilim beings, L. A. Marzulli, describes this as the modern "Nephilim 2.0" — the same demonic plan, only clothed in technological garb so that contemporary culture will accept it as "extraterrestrial."

It must be emphasized that the biblical Antichrist is to be perceived by the world at large — at least in the initial phase — as a peacemaker and a positive figure who can help establish world peace. If he were to present himself, for example, as an extraterrestrial or a hybrid, he could offer the world new technologies, and possibly also medicines — for example, cancer treatments. He would become the darling of the masses, and anyone who pointed out his true nature would probably be persecuted in some way. His alleged extraterrestrial origin could at the same time better conceal the signs and wonders he would perform — for example, by explaining them as manifestations of advanced technology. An ordinary person might therefore not think of the traditional connection with magic or occultism, which could more easily identify him as the biblical Antichrist. Only time will show whether this assessment is correct.

Objections to the Claim That These Are Demons

It is natural that these conclusions raise legitimate unease and related questions. For that reason, I have created a separate page in which I address the most common objections, such as "Why would demons need physical craft?" and the like. To examine these questions, go to Objections to the Demonic Hypothesis of UFOs.

Summation

Based on abundant evidence, it can be concluded that the UFO phenomenon has nothing to do with visits from extraterrestrial civilizations. Even some prominent non-Christian researchers conclude from their studies that these are unknown visitors from other realities, not beings from other galaxies. From a Christian perspective, it is clear which reality is involved—the spiritual demonic world. This conclusion also underscores the fact that the attacks of these "extraterrestrials" can be repelled in the authority of the name of Jesus Christ.
