Question 80 – Isn't Christianity boring?
Many people fear that converting to Christianity might render their lives dull, filled with endless prayers, adherence to various commandments, and a life of self-denial. Unsurprisingly, such ideas often lead them to turn away from Christianity. However, they could not be more mistaken. When one genuinely seeks God's will and surrenders to His guidance, He begins to use them, leading to unexpected, occasionally challenging, and not always pleasant—yet undeniably adventurous—experiences, during which they will often stand in awe of divine guidance and wisdom.
In the world today, up to 100 million Christians face various forms of persecution [11]. This alone indicates that these individuals experience great adventures full of fears but also divine peace and provision. While in Europe we may mostly escape such persecution, life with God here remains vibrant, fulfilling, and intriguing. It is certainly not boring. It can become lifeless only if your Christianity turns into a dead religion focused on routine adherence to numerous prohibitions and commands, devoid of a genuine relationship with the Creator.
LOVE
When looking at Christian life from another perspective, we can speak of a life of service. The Lord Jesus calls us to serve others in love. It does not mean we are denied the right to receive help and service from others, but we must foremost think of others, which in this corrupt and broken world opens up numerous opportunities for our involvement. So many people carry heavy burdens, so many have experienced horrifying pasts, so many need our encouragement, our empathy, and our advice. If you become a true follower of the Lord Jesus and seek to fulfill His will, you may be many things, but you will certainly not be bored.
Summation
The notion of a boring Christianity often stems from experiences with "nominal Christians" or false conceptions of the essence of Christianity. If you were to ask any devoted, born-again Christian in their old age whether they have ever been bored in life, I am convinced their answer would be negative.
