Muhammad,  Arab prophet of Islam, 570?-632

- first marriage was to his boss, a rich widow 20 years his senior

- married 9 more times and had other concubines even though Muslims may marry only 4 wives

- used force to attain power, killing hundreds of Jews

- died in his bed with violent headaches and fever

- claimed only to be a mortal messenger (Qur’an 7:188; 17:95)

- his fallibility is shown in Qur’an surah 80 where Allah rebukes him for turning away from a blind man

- the word Islam means peace, yet it is a religion dedicated to war

- his body was cut up and spread all over the near east

Koran,
The sacred text of Islam, considered by Muslims to contain the revelations of God to Mohammed. Also called Alcoran.

- Table V110 speaks of Jesus healing the blind, the lepers and raising the dead.

-  Jesus is referred to regularly as Isa ibn Maryam – Jesus the son of Mary

Athar Husain

According to tradition reports Muhammad having said:

“I cannot save you from the punishment of God.”

“I cannot protect you either.”

“I cannot be of help to you.”

Abdullah Al-Baidawi,
the classical commentator on the Koran

Remarks about the virgin birth with full understanding of the Semitic practice in nomenclature:

“The name of the mother is borne when the father is unknown. But this name and explanation are here intended in a thoroughly positive sense. In Islam, Jesus is regarded as the son of the virgin Mary who was begotten by the creative word of God.”

In the Koran (Mary V5) when it was announced to Mary that she would bear a son, she replied:

“How can this be, for I am a virgin, and no mortal has ever touched me?”

The account goes on to say:

“It is easy for me (the Lord).”

And he then:

“Breathed on her his spirit.”
